TerraTV will replay the main card of the event on Tuesday the 18th, and RedeTV! will air the preliminary card on the following Saturday, the 21st. President Myron Molotky believes this will be a landmark event for the promotion.

“This is the best card we’ve ever had in the history of XFC. We have huge fights that will show the growing strength of our roster of fighters. The fans attending will enjoy the event from start to finish, as several of the top Brazilian fighters try to maintain their integrity as they now face opponents from all over the world also looking for victory in the HeXagon. We’ve got our tournament Semifinals, Season I Champions facing stronger competition in their Superfight debuts, plus two Championship fights! Non-stop action from beginning to end,”says Molotky.

The XFCi9 weigh ins were held on Friday the 13th. Allan Nascimento and Bruno Azevedo had no problems making the cut and marked 56,6kg and 56,4kg, respectively, below the limits of 56,7kg division. Poliana Botelho and Antonia Silvaneide marked 56,4kg and 56,7kg, on the mark to solidify their tournament championship fight as well. Julie Werner, facing Russian Julia Berezikova exceeded 500g in the 56,7kg limit of the flyweight division and will have to pass 25% of her purse to her opponent as per the contract.

One other fighter failed to make weight, Mexican Edgar Cabello, could only get to 61,5kg, about 300g over the limit of the bantamweight category. After failing to reach an agreement with his opponent James Gray (USA), Cabello was fined 50% of his pay which was awarded to his opponent. All other athletes hit the weight limits of their respective divisions.

Puro Osso fans behind him, Bruno Macaco ready to upset

Allan Nascimento earned his right to a title fight with record of 14 wins and only two defeats. On Saturday night he enters the heXagon in hope to keep his victory rate in the XFC at 100%. His last triumph was over Ukrainian Ruslan Abiltarov, inside the same arena (Sao Paulo Futebol Clube) approximately 3km from his academy and residence. At the time, Puro Osso had massive support from friends and family and this time the number should increase. About 500 students from his academy, Chute Boxe Diego Lima, bought tickets for the event.

“I am very happy to fight for the XFC World Title at home. In the last event, I was already much more confident with the support of the crowd and that expectation is even greater. I do not feel any pressure to have the crowd on my side, it only motivates me to know that 90% of the gym will be with me, “says Nascimento. On analyzing the strengths of his opponent he said, “Bruno is a really tough athlete, I know he works hard and has a great ground game, but I’m very well prepared. I waited a long time for this chance at the belt and now is my time.”

The world champion jiu-jitsu Bruno Azevedo debuts in the heXagon at XFCi 9. At just 24 years old he holds a total of 12 wins and two losses. The Brasilian has trained at Nova Uniao in Rio de Janeiro for the last three months and boasts his developments since coming into contact with gym leader Dede Pederneiras. Bruno does not seem bothered by the underdog position in his duel against Nascimento. “The move to New Union was done at the right time. I do not care about being the underdog and having to fight against the cheers of the whole crowd. It will not be the first time this has happened and the victory will be even more enjoyable in this situation. I respect Allan. I know he’s a tough guy, but it will be my arm that gets raised, trust.”

Duel between partner academies decide GP champion flyweight

In jiu-jitsu, it is tradition for athletes in the same weight class, from the same academy to never face each. But on Saturday, Poliana Botelho and Antonia Silvaneide, representatives of Nova Union and Kimura Nova Uniao, respectively, can not avoid it. The two teams have a long-standing partnership and often their athletes train in each other headquarters in Rio de Janeiro and Natal. At XFCi 9, they have no choice as they are both accredited for reaching the tournament finals and now must compete against one another for the gold medal in the women’s flyweight category and the opportunity to advance to the XFC Superfight Series.

“Silvaneide is a very nice girl, but now that friendship will be set aside,” Poliana explained, excited the opportunity provided by from her victories: “The XFC opened even more doors for women’s MMA, to be transmitted on broadcast television throughout the world. They have helped change the view of the general population that originally believed this sport was only for men,” says the stated. Botelho has three wins and one loss in his career to date.

At just 21, with a total of four wins and one loss in his career, Antonia Silvaneide saw her dream of becoming a renowned fighter become possible with the opportunity inside the XFC. Fighting out of Mossoró (RN), she overcame great difficulties to be in the heXagon. “My master Jair Lourenço had called me several times to live in Natal and train at Kimura, but I was a little afraid because I knew no one and had no where to stay. With the chance to fight in XFC, I dropped everything and accepted the invitation. I spent two months living in the gym, sleeping on the mat, until I could rent a house. I can say with all certainty that the XFC has changed my life, because prior I was discouraged to fight,” she says.

Besides the two main fights of the night, the XFCi 9 also has another ten duels. Among the fights, the presence of three champions of the Season I tournaments – Will Galvão, Alberto Uda and Nathan Schulte will face international opponents. The tournament semifinals of the Male bantamweight tournament (up to 61,2kg) and welterweight (77,1kg) division, plus the semifinals of the women’s strawweight tournament s (up to 52,2kg) will be among the top focus of the XFCi 9 International MMA event live streamed Worldwide on XFCMMA.com via Rede Tv!
