XFC signs undefeated welterweight Jason South

jason south xfcIn the midst of a 3 fight tour of Tennessee this year, the XFC has taken another step in bolstering their already stacked welterweight division by signing undefeated submission specialist Jason South to a multi-fight deal. XFC President John Prisco made the announcement late yesterday evening.

“I’m pleased to announce that we have come to terms with Jason South on a multi-fight contract,” exclaimed Prisco. “Jason has been rolling through everyone in his path on cards out West and I’m excited to test him in the XFC cage. He will make his debut in August, on our Charlotte card, after our Nashville show in June. This kid has never gone to the judges. He finishes fights and that’s the kind of fighter we want in the XFC. I have a feeling Jason is going to make a lot of noise in our welterweight division. This kid could be the measuring stick at 170 and I believe he will put on some exciting fights for the XFC fans around the world, on HDNet.”

Widely regarded as one of the top welterweight prospects in the world at 8-0, South joins the promotions already impressive group at 170 including: Charles Blanchard, Ian Stephens, Alex Poulsen, Nicolae Cury, and Charlie Rader. ‘The Mover’ is coming off his biggest win to date, when he submitted Bellator veteran Tim Ruberg in the second round in February. In 8 professional fights, South has never gone to the judges scorecards. In fact, his last 7 wins came all via submission in the first or second round.

Fighting primarily on cards in Utah, South will step into the spotlight when he makes his XFC debut live on HDNet this August. “I’m ecstatic to be given the opportunity to compete on such a prominent stage as the XFC, said South. “I’ve gone 8-0 and I’m excited to prove myself against some of the best competition in the world. I appreciate this opportunity given to me by Mr. Prisco and the XFC and I can’t wait to get in the cage this summer and put on a show for the XFC fans.”
