Super Heavyweights Brandon Sayles, Chase Gormley collide at XFC 16: High Stakes

The Xtreme Fighting Championships (XFC) officially announced that a super heavyweight bout between Brandon Sayles and Chase Gormley has joined their XFC 16: High Stakes card on February 10th.

Sayles, a three-time Army Combatives champion, will look to remain undefeated in his young mixed martial arts career. In his most recent bout, Sayles pounded out Imani Lee in the first round at XFC 15 this past December. Sayles says that he expects a similar result against Gormley, “If the fight stays standing I’m confident I can knock him out but if it goes to the ground I’m pretty sure you will see another TKO by ground and pound.”

Gormley, a UFC veteran, is a former NAIA All-American wrestler. Gormley’s well-round skills and experience could be a difference in his fight against Sayles. Gormley has recorded two wins by submission and two wins by knockout during his career.

XFC 16, which takes place from the Knoxville Civic Coliseum, will air live on HDnet. The event will be headlined by a high profile lightweight bout between Jamie Varner and Drew Fickett.
