Lorenzo Borgomeo returns for main event clash at XFC 20: High Octane

XFC Lorenzo BorgomeoLorenzo Borgomeo will return to the XFC cage for the first time since 2008 in the XFC 20: High Octane main event where he will take on Eric Reynolds. Borgomeo moved from Italy to America to begin his MMA career after competing successfully in K-1 while living in Europe. Originally a member of American Top Team, Borgomeo is now training with the Blackzilian team in South Florida. Borgomeo has competed with XFC once previously, and has also fought under the Bellator and EliteXC banners.

Lorenzo comes from a kickboxing background, but since moving to the U.S. has been training in wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, as he looks to improve as an overall MMA fighter. Borgomeo has found some success in MMA, with an combined record of 9-4, including wins over XFC vet Mike Bernhard. Not one to let the judges decide his fate, “The Borg” has finished 4 of his opponents by submission and 3 by TKO. Borgomeo will need his kickboxing background for the fight with Reynolds who also has a strong striking history. Training with American Top Team, and now the Blackzilians, Borgomeo should have the upper hand in the grappling department as he has been training with some of the best jiu-jitsu practitioners in the game.

As the XFC Lightweight division continues to develop, a win over Reynolds could send Borgomeo’s career into the fast lane with rumors from XFC staff that a win at XFC 20 could possibly send him in as the opponent for Nick Newell at December’s Night of Champions II. XFC President John Prisco weighed in on the new match up during this week’s press meeting. “I couldn’t be happier with Borgomeo coming in to take this fight. With all the injuries pulling fighters from everyone’s cards, and promotions cancelling shows, we’re lucky to have a true competitor in Reynolds to take the fight after the change of opponent, and also to have Borgomeo come in and really give us a competitive match up.”

To find out if Reynolds can move to 3-0 with the XFC and make his way to a title fight in December, fans can watch XFC 20: High Octane live from the Knoxville Civic Coliseum on AXStv. The event is presented by ICRealTime Security Solutions. For more information on XFC 20 or to purchase tickets go to www.officialxfc.com.
