A catchweight clash between Dustin West and Stoney “Skuller” Hale has been booked as the opening bout for the main card of XFC 16: High Stakes on February 10th. West and Hale, a pair of popular fighters, should kick-off the event with a bang in a fight that many expect will not go the distance.
The hard-hitting West (5-4) has recorded four of his five wins by knockout. The Strikeforce veteran has two knockout wins that took just 9 seconds each to his credit. One of those victims was veteran Johnathan Ivey who West defeated in his most recent fight in November 2011. West, a former Marine, also owns a victory over Ultimate Fighter veteran Blake Bowman.
Hale (4-2) will be ready no matter where the fight plays out. He says, “If it stays standing I think I will do well but if it goes to the ground I know I will be fine there too.” Hale, a member of Team Oxendine, has previously competed for Strikeforce and Bellator. In Hale’s most recent bout he earned a decision over Gerric Hayes at Strikeforce Challengers 13.
XFC 16: High Stakes takes place from the Knoxville Civic Coliseum in Knoxville, Tennessee with the main card airing live on HDNet. Headlining the even is a highly anticipated lightweight battle featuring Jamie Varner and Drew Fickett.
