Fabricio Werdum became the undisputed UFC heavyweight champion with a submission win over Cain Velasquez in the main event of UFC 188. Werdum (20-5-1), who withstood a strong start from Velasquez (13-2), finished the fight with a guillotine choke at 2:13 into the third round. Werdum has now won six consecutive fights since returning to the UFC in 2012.
So who is next for the new champion? A likely choice could be former champion and fellow Brazilian Junior Dos Santos. Werdum would get the opportunity to avenge a technical knockout loss that he suffered to Dos Santos at UFC 90 in October 2008.
