Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson and Ian “Uncle Creepy” McCall will look to settle what they started at UFC on FX 2 when they fought to a majority draw in the semifinal round of the four-man flyweight tournament.
UFC officials announced that the rematch will take place on June 8th at a location which will be determined by fan voting in the Harley-Davidson Hometown Throwdown. Also announced for the card will be a bantamweight bout between Dustin Pague and Jared Papazian.
Johnson (14-2-1) and McCall (11-2-1) put on a “Fight of the Night” performance in their initial meeting. Johnson was declared the winner following the fight but an error in the judges score calculation actually had the bout as a majority draw. The winner of the fight will take on Joseph Benavidez to determine the UFC flyweight champion. Benavidez scored a second round technical knockout of Yasuhiro Urushitani to advance to the title fight.
Papazian (14-7-1) made his promotional debut at UFC on FX 1 in January where is lost a majority decision to Mike Easton. Despite coming up short on the scorecards Papazian made quite an impression as he stood toe-to-toe with Easton in an entertaining bout. Pague (10-5) was a member of Team Miller on The Ultimate Fighter 14 where he advanced to the semifinals. He would suffer a technical knockout loss to John Albert at the shows finales in December 2011.
