UKMMAF’s Nigel Burgess commented:

“Our first amateur MMA tournament was a great success, with huge crowd watching each and every fight. The atmosphere was electric and the athletes were fantastic – it was a real experience for them to be fighting in front of so many people at this stage in their amateur careers. Those present got to witness some seriously promising, up and coming mixed martial artists. Huge thanks to BAMMA, BodyPower Expo, Heavy Duty Fightwear Ltd, and Go Ham Clothing for making it all possible.”

The respective winners in each weight class are now recognized as national champions, with a progression path that potentially leads to the IMMAF European Open Championship, and the IMMAF World Championships. The UKMMAF will be inviting medalists to attend a try out for the European Open Championships, with a date for the trials to be announced in due course.
