British promotion, MACTO, has pledged that its launch event at ArenaMK in Milton Keynes on 27th June will operate according to Safe MMA medical guidelines. This includes the presence of a doctor to carry out pre and post fight medical examinations for all competing athletes, and a commitment to submitting medical results and suspensions to Safe MMA.
Safe MMA will also sanction all professional MMA bouts on the card, for which athletes need to be cleared to compete in advance by Safe MMA doctors, following an annual medical examination and blood tests.
The full criteria for Safe MMA promotions can be found in the Safe MMA Member’s Agreement: http://bit.ly/1u48rsd
MACTO directors, Wad Alameddine and Ross Laurence have worked closely with Safe MMA previously in their capacities as fighter managers, while Ross Laurence’s sportswear brand, Impact LPA, is an apparel partner of Safe MMA. Official Safe MMA T-Shirts are available from: www.impactlpa.com
MACTO Director of Communications, Chris Emmanuel, said:
“We are committed to the promotion of professionalism within the industry, with athlete safety of paramount importance. Safe MMA provides the necessary framework to ensure that our fighters are protected whilst competing at MACTO Championships. The decision for us to join Safe MMA was swift and unanimous. We look forward to a continuous working relationship, as both MACTO Championships and Safe MMA work in conjunction to improve the sport we all love.”
