Eddie Alvarez vs. Michael Chandler lightweight title fight set for Bellator 54

Eddie AlvarezThe Bellator Fighting Championship announced that lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez will defend his title against Season 4 Tournament winner Michael Chandler on October 15th at Bellator 54.

Alvarez (22-2) is riding a seven fight winning streak while competing with Bellator. He is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Pat Curran at Bellator 39 in April. He also holds wins over Roger Huerta, Josh Neer and Toby Imada. Alvarez discussed Chandler on the official release by saying, “I’ve already gone back and started to watch film, and I’ll be ready. He brings a really good pace, and it’s going to be a great fight.”

The undefeated Chandler (8-0) is wrestling specialist who trains with Xtreme Couture. He earned the lightweight title shot by capturing the Season 4 tournament with wins over Marcin Held, Lloyd Woodard and Patricky Freire. He has three knockouts and three submission wins to his credit.

Bellator 54 will take place from the Boardwalk Hall Ballroom in Atlantic City, New Jersey and be shown live on MTV2.
