It was announced on Inside MMA that former Strikeforce heavyweight Brett “Grim” Rogers will return to action against Eddie Sanchez at the Titan Fighting Championships 20 on September 23rd. The event will be held at the Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas with former WEC lightweight champion Jaime Varner taking on Alonzo “Zo Diddy” Martinez in the main event.
Rogers (11-3) burst onto the MMA scene when he began his career with ten straight wins, which included a 22 second demolition of former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski. However, after the fast rise came a quick fall as Rogers lost three of his next four bouts. He was stopped by some of the biggest names in MMA – Fedor Emelianenko, Alistair Overeem and Josh Barnett. Shortly after his loss to Barnett, Rogers was arrested for assaulting his wife and then subsequently released from Strikeforce. However, the big heavyweight believes that the problems outside the cage will be resolved and he will work to move forward in his life. The losses inside the cage have have offered Rogers a new perspective on what it takes to make it and stay at the top. He plans to begin that first step against Sanchez at Titan FC 20.
