Bellator 39 features Alvarez-Curran title fight, two Season 4 semifinals

bellator logoThe Bellator Fighting Championships have finalized a packed nine bout card for their Bellator 39 event being held on Saturday, April 2nd.

Healining the card is a lightweight title fight between current champion Eddie Alvarez and Pat Curran. Alvarez (21-2) is widely recognized as one of the top lightweights in the world. He states on the official release at Bellator.com

“I need to live up to my own expectations. More than any fight in my career – in this fight with Pat Curran – I just want to completely dominate.

Curran (13-3) was the lightweight tournament champion of Bellator’s second season. He will enter the bout on a four fight winning streak which includes victories over Roger Huerta and Toby Imada.

Also on tap for the event is a Season 4 tournament welterweight semifinal and a lightweight semifinal. Rick Hawn will square off against Lyman Good in the welterweight semifinal, while lightweights Toby Imada and Patricky Freire will meet looking for a spot in the finals.

If that is not enough, Bellator 39 will also include the debut of former UFC and Ultimate Fighter 6 competitor, Ben “Killa B” Saunders.

Bellator 39 takes place from Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT and will be shown live on MTV2.
