Santos vs. Prindle, Season 6 Middleweight Tourney Quarterfinals set for Bellator 61

bellator 61 posterEric Prindle and Thiago Santos will once again hook’em up to finally (hopefully) crown the Bellator Season 5 heavyweight tournament winner at Bellator 61 on March 16th. Taking place from the Horseshoe Riverdome in Bossier City, LA, Bellator 61 will also feature the quarterfinals of the Season 6 middleweight tournament.

Prindle and Santos initially met at Bellator 59 but the fight was ruled a No Contest following an illegal kick to the groin by Santos. Prindle advanced to the finals with a unanimous decision win over Abe Wagner and a knockout of Ron Sparks. Santos took out both of his opponents, Josh Burns and Neil Grove, by rear-naked choke submission to earn his slot in the finals. Bellator Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney commented on the finale saying, “This Prindle-Santos fight has war written all over it and both of these guys have taken this huge fight very personally.”

The official quarterfinal pairings for the Season 6 middleweight tournament are set with the following bouts.

  • Maiquel Falcao vs. Norman Paraisy
  • Brian Rogers vs. Vitor Vianna
  • Vyacheslav Vasilevsky vs. Victor O’ Donnell
  • Giva Santana vs. Bruno Santos

The main card for Bellator 61 will be shown live on MTV2 and EPIX beginning at 8:00pm ET. The preliminary card will stream free on Spike.com at 7:00pm ET.
