Bryan Baker added to Bellator’s Season 6 Welterweight Tourney

bellator fighting championships logoBryan “The Beast” Baker will make the move from middleweight to welterweight for Bellator’s Season 6 tournament. The eight-man tournament which begins in March can be seen on MTV2.

Bellator Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney announced the news on Twitter earlier today, “The Beast is back! @BryanBeastBaker returns at “Welterweight” for Season 6 Tourney. Great fighter/role model. Great to have u back Bryan.”

Baker (16-3) was a semifinalist in Bellator’s Season 5 middlewight tournament. He would advance to the semifinals with a third round technical knockout of Jared Hess at Bellator 50. His quest for the tournament title would come to a disappointing end at Bellator 54 where he suffered a technical knockout to Vitor Vianna in just 54 seconds. The loss ended Baker’s three fight winning streak which included victories over tough veterans Jeremy Horn and Joe Riggs.

Baker joins Jon “War Machine” Koppenhaver, Brian Foster, Carlos Alexandre Pereira and Karl Amoussou as the confirmed competitors in the welterweight tournament.
