Bellator signs welterweight Paul “Semtex” Daley, debuts at Bellator 72

paul "semtex" daleyThe Bellator Fighting Championships announced that they have signed heavy-handed welterweight Paul “Semtex” Daley.

Daley, a UFC and Strikeforce veteran, will make his promotional debut at Bellator 72 on July 20th. Daley (29-12-2) most recently competed on the March 3rd Strikeforce card where he dropped a split decision to Kazuo Misaki. That marked the third consecutive loss for Daley while competing in Strikeforce. He holds notable wins over Dustin Hazelett, Scott Smith, Martin Kampmann and Jorge Masvidal.

Daley commented on his new home saying, “I’ve been a fan of Bellator for a long while. When this chance came up, I was absolutely ready to make a long term commitment to Bellator. I have my sights set on winning the tournament and winning that Bellator title.”

Bellator 72 takes place from the Sun Dome at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. The event will be televised on MTV2 and EPIX HD at 8:00pm ET. The action will include the season six welterweight tournament final with Karl Amoussou taking on Bryan Baker.
