Bellator 84 Results: Volkov defeats Hale for heavyweight title

bellator 85 posterBellator wraps up their season 7 lightweight and heavyweight tournaments with their final event of the year – Bellator 84. The event goes down from The Venue at Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana on December 14th.

Alexander Volkov will square off against Rich Hale for the heavyweight tournament title while Marcin Held battles Dave Jansen for the lightweight title.

The preliminary card is highlighted by a women’s feature fight matching the ultra popular Felice “Lil Bulldog” Herrig against Patricia Vidonic.

Louis Taylor defeated Joe Vedepo by knockout at 4:12 of the first round.

Felice Herrig defeated Patricia Vidonic by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

Daniel Vizcaya defeated Jack Hermansson by split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28).

Marcin Held vs. Dave Jansen – Lightweight Final

Alexander Volkov defeated Rich Hale by unanimous decision (49-46, 49-46, 49-46) to win the Bellator heavyweight championship.

Preliminary Card

Robert White defeated Kenny Booker by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

Jerald Williams defeated Joey Diehl by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

Anthony Gomez defeated Anton Talamantes by rear-naked choke submission at 3:30 of the first round.

Christian Uflacker defeated Cliff Wright by technical decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at 2:26 of the third round. The bout was ruled a technical decision after Uflacker was unable to continuing fighting after getting crushed by an up-kick. The up-kick was ruled an unintentional illegal blow by the referee.
